honest to god how does he move that fast with 3dmg that is 70% his body mass

He’s Levi, future Humanity’s Strongest. Do you really think he’ll let something as mundane as body mass stop him from being fabulous?
I think not.

Can we stop and see how Erwin was aiming that spin, please?
Like literally this is my favourite time in the OVA because it explains so much about their attacks and mannerism:
Levi is agile, slender and literally uses his toned body to spin, escape and basically using his body to move as quickly as possible and do the damage he can.
He’s using his small size as an advantage, as an asset and he plays with his speed to be an almost impossible target to tire out his opponent and then strike, even if resilience isn’t his best trait. If you follow this part on the manga you realize stamina isn’t the thing he’s superb if you compare it with his agility or speed. He’s also not exactly keen into keep the fight as he is to escape, he basically wanted to try out the Legion and, if it was too much, then get out. It fits with how he behaves in the Underground.
Erwin however isn’t fast or flashy, but he’s strong and he’s precise. Very much so when he comes near Levi he’s just running towards him- he’s not even doing silent steps or looking to strike first, his focal point is to move there-, there’s no special position or agility, but boy, he spins to cut and you know if that blade ever touched Levi, he would be a bye, bye, bye. That pause to support his body on his left leg, then spin with the right and basically sprint his blade towards Levi makes my heart go doki doki.
He also shows that he won’t stop at anything to get what he wants, even if he isn’t in the best shape when it comes to his opponent.
I just wanted to see them actually fight so much because I want to see the perfect team coming from them, they actually compliment in battle terms a lot and I like that in a military manga: Yeah, take all the fanservice you want, but this thing, this simple move showing their fighting style did much more for me than all the Levi and Erwin eyefucking.

not all character development exists to make someone a better person

people turn into assholes, too. They become more  manipulative, arrogant, clingy, irritated… complex.

and that’s okay, that’s important.

explore that.
